A City employee, Alex Gonzalez suffered a tragic lost this week when their house, all of their belongings, and 3 cherished pets were lost in a devastating fire. City employees have created a GoFundmMe account. This online account allows anyone to voluntarily donate money electronically and/or to pass the link on to all of their social media friends (Facebook, Twitter, email). The Cibolo Fire Dept. did a terrific job at quickly putting out a fire that could have potentially been even more devastating than it was. A relief to business owners and the community that the fire did not wipe out downtown Cibolo.

It started in the kitchen area of Harmon's BBQ and has left a portion of the buildings with some structure damaged and a lot to clean up. Being separate structures (meaning double walls), the neighboring business, Wise Jewelry, was somewhat insulated from the fire spreading into their structure however, the smoke and suet damage that seeped into the store was quite significant.

Harmon's BBQ and Wise Jewelry are slowly recovering with clean-up. The City of Cibolo is working with the owner of the building, Bob Catalano and Ray and Ronnie, the owners of Harmon's to help them reestablish their business as quickly as possible.

Since the restaurant's smoker was not damaged in the fire and Harmon's wanted to get back to businesses ASAP, the Fire Marshal and building officials cleared the adjoining buildings; this allowing them to temporarily set-up shop out of the secondary building.

So, for you Harmon's fanatics...you can still get orders to go.

Many people have stepped forward with Clean-up and efforts to help keep Harmon's in businesses through the holidays. A benefit concert is being planned.......still in the planning stages however, Friday, December 9th will be the date, the same night as the City of Cibolo Tree Lighting Service.

Will post update by the end of the week.

City Council will be possibly approving an amendment to the current ordinance regarding the
"Discharge of Firearms on Certain Properties within the City of Cibolo..."

The City ordinance was originally adopted in July of 2003 and in compliance with State regulations at that time. However, since that time, the State of Texas amended Chapter 229 of the Texas Local Government Code.  This amendment "..modifies the hunting exception to permit the discharge of shotguns within the City Limits of a municipality on the properties that had a minimum area of 10 (ten) acres for hunting purposes during a legal hunting season."

The amendments to this City Ordinance is simply to bring compliance to the Texas Local Government Code changes.
